Nickelodeon’s beloved series Avatar: The Last Airbender will be getting a live-action series created by Netflix. The cast so far includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, and Ian Ousley as Sokka.
Most recent additions to the cast are Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Lim Kay Siu as monk Gyatso and Ken Leung as Commander Zhao.
Airing in 2005, the Avatar tells the story of Aang, an airbender who has spent the last 100 years trapped in ice. When he’s finally released, he gets to travel with his friends, master the remaining three bending elements and save the world from the Firelord.
The original Avatar showrunners Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko said about the series: “We’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast.”
