Bad Bunny would without a doubt be on a small list of those with the finest 2022. The Puerto Rican superstar increased his Adidas collaboration in order to sell more products and do more good, in addition to shattering touring and streaming records. Before the month of January is up, the momentous cooperation will release its first pair of 2019: an Adidas Campus in “Cloud White.”
The artist’s “El Apagón” music video and mini-documentary include an unpublished pair that at first look appears to be a new model from the German sportswear giant, but closer examination exposes design inspirations from the 1970s and 1980s.
The foundation of the shoe is entirely made of hairy suede, with the profile 3-Stripes marking disrupting the look with their similarly subdued leather material. A non-standard support overlay in the lower heel sections is reminiscent of the Adidas Country and some old Campus models. The area surrounding the collar features thick padding in the style of Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio’s renowned Forum Buckle Low.
Additional nods to the German institution’s earlier work include the “El Ojo” (“The Eye”) emblem, a double tongue, and a stacked heel region for the Achielles. The shoe retains the classic “CAMPUS” logo on the lateral profile, but for reinforcement and aesthetic reasons, the area just above the “aged” midsole is covered with curved TPU foxing. Last but not least, the underfoot traction inspired by basketball adheres to its decades-old design, making the Campus choice an authentic Adidas Originals item.
