Jordan Brand and Nike present the Doernbecher Freestyle XIX collection, showcasing six distinct shoes meticulously crafted by child patients from OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. As the holiday season approaches, the Air Jordan 3 takes center stage with a remarkable new iteration.
Designed by the talented Hugo “Juice” Covarrubias Molina, this Air Jordan 3 draws inspiration from the vibrant team colors of the Seattle Seahawks, featuring a striking combination of navy blue and slime green. Paying homage to the young designer’s nickname, the slime green gracefully descends on the ankle, adding a personal touch to the design. The hang-tag, plated with 24-carat gold, not only embodies Juice’s affinity for jewelry but also elevates the overall aesthetic.
Adding depth to the design, the outsole of the shoes carries a poignant message, stating, “It’s okay to be different” — a profound source of inspiration for Juice, who navigates life with Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome. The Air Jordan 3 “Hugo” boasts a navy leather upper, with slime green accents adorning the tongues, mudguard, and semi-translucent outsole. The iconic elephant print makes its presence felt on the toe and heel guard, completing the visually stunning and meaningful design.
Scheduled for release on December 2 at select retailers and online at Nike, the Air Jordan 3 Doernbecher “Hugo” is priced at $210 USD.
