Sean “Diddy” Combs recently addressed a past incident involving his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, via a video on Instagram. The 54-year-old music mogul confronted the actions shown in a 2016 surveillance video, expressing remorse and taking full responsibility.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life. Sometimes you got to do that,” Diddy said. “I was f*cked up. I hit rock bottom. I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now.”
Diddy revealed that he sought professional help following the incident. “I went out and sought professional help, went to therapy and rehab. Asked God for his mercy and grace. I am so sorry. But I am committed to being a better man each and every day. I am not asking for forgiveness. I am truly sorry.”
The footage in question was recorded on March 5, 2016, at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. It shows Diddy chasing Ventura in a hallway, assaulting her, and later interacting with her while she appears distressed. This event was detailed in Ventura’s November 2023 lawsuit, which accuses Diddy of rape and physical abuse. She claims the assault occurred after Diddy became heavily intoxicated.
Cassie Ventura‘s lawsuit also alleges that Diddy paid $50,000 to suppress the hotel surveillance footage.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light,” stated Douglas H. Wigdor, Ventura’s attorney, to CNN.
