G-Eazy has returned with a poignant tribute to his late mother, Suzanne Olmsted, through his latest album titled “Freak Show,” released on June 21. This album marks his 7th studio endeavor, blending influences from hip-hop, pop-punk, and trap music.
Announcing the album on his official Instagram, the “Him & I” singer shared a deeply personal collection of 12 tracks, totaling 35 minutes of emotive storytelling. Each song serves as a heartfelt ode to his mother, reflecting on themes of love, loss, and personal growth. In “Love You Forever,” G-Eazy lays bare his emotions with lyrics like, “My dear mama / My sweet mama / Nobody’s gonna hurt you / ‘Cause Gerald’s always gonna love you.”
Beyond emotional introspection, “Freak Show” dives into the artist’s struggles with mental health, exemplified in tracks like “Anxiety.” Here, he explores themes of insomnia, manic episodes, and body dysmorphia, offering a candid glimpse into his inner turmoil. “Some days I’m high, I’m high, I’m high / Throw my pain away… Some days I hide, I hide, I hide / I hide away,” he shares in poignant verses.
The album also features standout tracks such as “Femme Fatale” and a revamped version of his viral hit “Lady Killers III,” showcasing his versatility and evolution as an artist.
In conjunction with the album release, G-Eazy has announced an extensive world tour, slated to kick off on October 24 in Berkeley, California. The tour will span 41 days, with additional stops planned in Los Angeles and San Diego, promising fans an immersive live experience of his latest musical journey.
