Wiz Khalifa Faces Drug Possession Charges in Romania

American rapper and actor Wiz Khalifa (Cameron Thomaz, 36) has been arrested and charged with illegal drug possession during his appearance at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinesti, Romania. According to reports from Agence France Presse (AFP), authorities allegedly discovered cannabis in Khalifa’s possession in the early hours of Sunday, July 14.

Under Romanian law, cannabis is classified as a “risk drug,” and if convicted, Wiz Khalifa could potentially face up to 10 years in prison. The Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors, DIICOT, stated that Khalifa was found with more than 18 grams of cannabis and was observed consuming the substance onstage during his performance.

Following his arrest, Wiz Khalifa was reportedly taken in for questioning by local authorities along with several others but was subsequently released. In response to the incident, Khalifa took to social media to express his sentiments, noting that he did not intend any disrespect to Romania and acknowledging the country’s handling of the situation.

Khalifa’s relationship with cannabis is well-documented, often featuring prominently in his public persona and lyrical content. Earlier this year, he humorously shared on a podcast that he attends his son’s school events under the influence, noting that it’s not perceived negatively as it once might have been.

Amidst the legal developments, Khalifa’s personal life has seen recent joy with the announcement of expecting a child with his girlfriend, Aimee Aguilar, as revealed in a heartfelt Instagram post on Father’s Day.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather information regarding the circumstances surrounding Khalifa’s arrest and subsequent release in Romania.
