Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has released his fifth and final studio album, titled ‘Bando Stone & The New World’. This album, spanning one hour and comprising 17 tracks, marks the end of Glover‘s journey under his musical alias. It features collaborations with artists such as Amaarae, Chlöe, Flo Milli, Jorja Smith, Yeat, Fousheé, and Khruangbin. The album also doubles as a soundtrack to Glover’s film with the same title.
Glover shared that the concept for the album came from an old movie idea about a musician who tries to record his greatest work on a secluded island amid a global crisis. This theme, he suggests, resonates with a universal feeling of searching for meaning. “Everyone experiences this, not just artists,” Glover expressed. He emphasized that his departure from the Childish Gambino persona was amicable and straightforward. He feels no regret or dissatisfaction; instead, he believes he no longer needs to continue in the same creative direction.
