Megan Thee Stallion to Host 2024 MTV VMAs

Texas rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion will take the stage as the host of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, broadcasting live from New York’s UBS Arena on September 11.

Earlier this month, the VMAs revealed their initial lineup of performers, sparking disappointment among some fans when GloRilla was the only Hip Hop artist announced. However, the recent news of Megan Thee Stallion stepping into the hosting role has reignited excitement.

Megan leads this year’s nominations with five nods. She’s in the running for Best Collaboration with GloRilla for “Wanna Be” and Best Direction for “BOA,” which also competes in the Best Hip Hop, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects categories.

The event, originally scheduled for September 10, was moved to avoid clashing with a key presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Fans still have time to cast their votes for their favorite artists in select categories.

The competition is fierce this year. In the Best Hip Hop category, tracks by Drake, Eminem, Travis Scott, and GloRilla will battle it out. Meanwhile, Muni Long, Victoria Monét, Tyla, Alicia Keys, and Usher are contenders for Best R&B.

Beyond the VMAs, Megan released her self-titled third studio album in June, featuring collaborations with artists like Victoria Monét, GloRilla, and UGK. The album includes singles like “HISS” and “Cobra,” showcasing Megan’s signature style while exploring new musical influences.
