Doechii Unveils ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ Mixtape Alongside New Single “GTFO”

Rising hip-hop star Doechii has released her highly anticipated mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, through Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records. The mixtape features 19 tracks that showcase Doechii’s exceptional talent and genre-defying artistry.

In her message to fans, Doechii shared, “To my Swamp, my devoted core fans, I hope you cherish this mixtape and create beautiful memories to it. Use my music to encourage you through the rough days and use it to imagine better ones. Allow Alligator Bites Never Heal to inspire you as you all have inspired me. I love you forever.

The mixtape’s standout track, “GTFO,” featuring KUNTFETISH, presents a powerful collaboration with incisive lyricism as the artists address their critics. Produced by TDE’s Devin Malik (known for his work with Lil Yachty and Ken Carson), “GTFO” is a notable highlight.

Following the release of “Boom Bap,” which was featured by Rolling Stone as one of the “Songs You Need to Know This Week” and included in ESSENCE’s “Best New Music,” the mixtape has continued to garner acclaim. Billboard highlighted Doechii’s impressive flow and her growing prominence in the hip-hop scene.

Alligator Bites Never Heal captures a wide range of styles, from the intense verses of “Bullfrog” to the dark, brooding delivery of “Catfish,” and the memorable lines of “Nissan Altima” (“I’m the new hip-hop Madonna / I’m the trap Grace Jones”).

The mixtape blends Doechii’s Tampa roots with her current Los Angeles influence. The cover art, featuring her in Vivienne Westwood with beads in her braids and an albino alligator, represents her bold and distinctive persona.

This release builds on the success of her Eurodance-inspired single “Alter Ego,” which earned praise from SZA and has surpassed 15 million streams on Spotify. Earlier in the summer, Doechii also dropped “MPH,” a high-energy dance track, and “ROCKET,” a summer anthem in collaboration with Sprite’s Limelight music film.

Doechii’s trajectory continues to rise with notable achievements such as over 600 million global streams for “What It Is (Block Boy)” and subsequent hits like “Booty Drop” and “Pacer.” Her recent performances with Beyoncé and her tour with Doja Cat underscore her growing influence.

Her 2022 EP she / her / black bitch established her as a versatile and distinctive artist. Recognized as an XXL Freshman and “Artist to Watch” by various leading publications, Doechii also earned nominations for Push Performance of the Year at the 2022 MTV VMAs and Best New Artist at the 2022 Soul Train Music Awards. Her late-night TV debut on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” her performance at the 2022 BET Awards, and her acclaimed set at Coachella 2023 further highlight her achievements.
