Nicki Minaj has taken a new direction with her upcoming music, opting to cancel plans for a deluxe edition of her latest album, ‘Pink Friday 2’, and instead focusing on releasing an entirely new project, ‘Pink Friday 3’. Minaj made the announcement through a post on X (formerly Twitter), explaining her decision and giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
Originally, Minaj had announced ‘Pink Friday 2’: Gag City Reloaded, a deluxe version of her latest album. This version was set to include new tracks, with one particularly anticipated feature—a posthumous appearance by Juice Wrld. However, Minaj has since reconsidered this approach. In her message to fans, she explained that she wanted Pink Friday 2 to stand on its own as a cohesive body of work, without the addition of extra tracks that, in her view, might disrupt the flow of the album.
“Instead of doing a deluxe to ‘Pink Friday 2’, I’ve decided to do a brand new album,” Minaj wrote. She added that the process of adding five to seven songs to the deluxe felt “sloppy,” suggesting that it didn’t align with her vision for the album. The new plan, she said, allows her to provide a fresh set of songs that won’t feel like they were simply tacked on.
Minaj‘s decision to scrap the deluxe edition highlights her commitment to maintaining the integrity of her work. Rather than releasing additional tracks on ‘Pink Friday 2’, she now aims to deliver a complete new project with ‘Pink Friday 3’, which she promises will contain some of her best recent recordings. The rapper hinted that the music she’s been working on is “too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album” and described her recent recording sessions as “iconic.”
Despite the change in plans, Minaj reassured fans that some of the new tracks—such as “Mamita” and the highly anticipated “anxiety song”—will still be incorporated into her upcoming tour performances. As for the release date of ‘Pink Friday 3’, Minaj mentioned that she will announce it within the coming weeks.
While the decision to shift from a deluxe edition to a new full-length album may have surprised fans, Minaj emphasized that it was made in the best interest of delivering high-quality music. She also promised to share more content and teasers leading up to the official release of ‘Pink Friday 3’, ensuring that her fanbase, known as the “Barbz,” remains engaged.
Nicki Minaj continues to be a dominant force in hip-hop, with her latest moves showing a deep focus on artistry. Her decision to pivot from a deluxe release to a brand-new album speaks to her creative process and dedication to giving her audience the best possible experience. With ‘Pink Friday 3’ now on the horizon, fans have even more to look forward to from the ever-evolving rapper.
