Clipse are back—and they didn’t come to play. Nearly 15 years after their last full-length project as a duo, the Thornton brothers—Pusha T and Malice—have announced their long-awaited reunion album Let God Sort ‘Em Out, set for release on July 11 via Roc Nation. They’ve marked the occasion with the release of a blistering new single, “Ace Trumpets,” a track that makes it clear: the duo’s chemistry hasn’t aged a day, it’s just grown sharper, meaner, and more refined.
Produced by Pharrell Williams, who helms the entire project, “Ace Trumpets” is as ominous and taut as Clipse fans could hope for. The beat creeps with cinematic menace, a war march in 808s and orchestral echoes, while Pusha and Malice trade bars like two generals dictating terms before battle. Pharrell doesn’t just supply the beat—he sets the temperature, and it’s ice cold.
The return to working with Pharrell is more than nostalgic—it’s strategic. This is the core Clipse sound: minimalist but loaded, stylish but unflinching. And the choice to bring back celebrated designer KAWS for the album visuals only sharpens the curated edge Pusha spoke about in a 2024 interview with Vulture. “This is a high taste-level piece of work,” he said. “You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science.”
Malice echoed the sentiment, describing the project as “smart basketball”—fundamentals, strategy, and authenticity over flash. “It’s what rap should look like if you’re real about your craft, real about your storytelling.” In an era where branding often outpaces bars, Clipse double down on the latter.
