Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion has officially announced her latest single, titled ‘Hiss,’ set to drop this Friday, January 26. The news, shared on Megan’s social media platforms, comes with the release of the official cover artwork and the option for fans to pre-save/pre-add the track.
Following the snake-themed ‘Cobra’ released last November, ‘Hiss’ marks Megan’s second solo venture under her independent music label, Hot Girl Productions. This move follows her departure from the label 1501 Certified Entertainment in October, which was accompanied by a legal dispute. Megan’s recent signing with Warner Music Group was reported last month, further solidifying her position as an independent artist.
The collaboration with Reneé Rapp on the song ‘Not My Fault’ for the Mean Girls movie musical showcased Megan’s versatility. The duo performed the track on Saturday Night Live last weekend.
In 2022, Megan released her acclaimed second album, ‘Traumazine.’ Addressing her newfound artistic freedom in an Instagram Live broadcast in October, Megan emphasized that her upcoming work would be “very much funded by Megan Thee Stallion.”
In a previous interview, Megan spoke about her creative process, stating, “I’m making music that I really, really love. I’m making music that I’m not about to have to fight with anybody about.”
Reflecting on her latest album, Megan shared her excitement, stating, “With this [new] album, I feel like I’m getting to the meat. I’m getting to the bones. It’s my story, and I’m telling it. I’m so excited because it’s just turning the page into like this new chapter of my life, and I feel like the Hotties are gonna be so excited to hear it.”
