Dr. Dre has revealed that he and Snoop Dogg are gearing up to release their new album, Missionary, by November this year.
The hip-hop legend shared that he’s deep into mixing the tracks for the album. “I was aiming for 14 songs, but Snoop’s pushing for 16, so we’re working that out,” Dre mentioned. “Right now, I’ve finished mixing 11 tracks. I need to have everything wrapped up and ready by September 1st to hit that November release date.” Dre also hinted that he has recorded vocals for a few tracks, although he thinks only one might make it onto the final album.
Fans can look forward to the signature brilliance of Dre and Snoop, along with an exciting feature from another music icon. “There’s a track where we have Sting on board. The lineup of artists on this album is incredible,” Dre teased, quickly adding, “I probably shouldn’t have let that slip.”
Dre proudly noted, “This project shows a new level of maturity in Snoop’s lyrics and in my production. I feel like this is some of the best work I’ve done in my career… I’m serious.” He added, “The musicians and writers I’m collaborating with are top-notch… Snoop and I are both really pumped about this. I think the listeners are in for something special.”
The timing for the album’s release in November is particularly meaningful as it coincides with the 31st anniversary of Doggystyle, Missionary‘s predecessor. When Missionary was first announced in 2022, Snoop described it as a celebration of their “30th anniversary of Doggystyle.”
