Cannabis Sales Breaking Records During the Pandemic
Even in the midst of a growing Covid-19 crisis in the U.S. and what some are predicting will be a years-long economic recession, several states are posting record-breaking cannabis sales. As outlined in a post on Marijuana Business Daily, at least three states with legal cannabis laws have experienced record growth in cannabis industry sales over recent months.
Among the states reporting record numbers are Colorado, Illinois (which just launched their adult-use program this year), and Oregon. The month of May saw Colorado cannabis sales reach a record $192 million, an increase of more than $44 million from the previous month.
Oregon set a record in May as well, surpassing the $100 million mark for the first time, at $103 million in marijuana sold. And Illinois passed their previous monthly record of $44 million with $47.6 million in cannabis sales in May.
