With his 2005 SB Dunk Low partnership, Diamond Supply Co. founder Nicky Diamonds introduced the precious stone to the realm of sneaker culture. Since it wasn’t an official relationship at the time, the upscale jewelry company Tiffany And Co. didn’t embrace this newfound significance to the niche market, but they are now officially working together as we get a first look at the upcoming Tiffany And Co. x Nike Air Force 1 Low.
The black, aqua, and chrome pair seems fairly similar to the SB Dunk drop, as first noted by Sole Retriever and Instagram user @gabeagool, but the similarities are explained by the hues of the jewelry design studio. With black nubuck uppers and tumbled leather at the Swoosh, these AF-1 appear to be constructed similarly to the original, but the real appeal is found in the chrome appliques at the heel and the etched tongue labels.
Instead of your standard sport laces, the shoes have thick roped laces like those used on Tiffany And Co. pouch cords and bag handles. There will be many shoelaces included, at least one of which will be a vivid golden yellow.
The “1837” designation refers to a segment of Tiffany And Co.’s product range that was inspired by the year the company was founded and usually features a simpler style; fresh photos (added on January 26th) show three more lacing choices. Currently, a $400 MSRP release is anticipated somewhere during this Spring 2023 season. There will probably only be a release through Tiffany & Co. and Nike.
