Atlanta-based rapper, Latto, has dropped a new single, “Lottery,” featuring Congolese-Canadian singer Lu Kala. The disco-infused track arrives almost a year after the release of her sophomore album, “777.”
Latto teased the new single via Instagram last month, posting a video of herself, Cam and model Brooklyn Nikole throwing cash around in the studio, captioning the clip, “Pop Latto loading…🍒” On February 9, she announced the official release date for the track.
Upon its release, “Lottery” was praised by fans and fellow artists for its infectious hook and catchy beat. Rapper Doechii wrote, “I smell a HIT,” while Bxndo commented, “Sounds like a mainstream hit. Sis makin feel good music.”
“Lottery” marks Latto’s first release of 2023 and has been seen as a shift from her usual sound. The rapper has been experimenting with new sounds lately, as evidenced by her recent “Smoking on My Ex Pack” freestyle.
“777” featured 13 tracks and guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Child Gambino, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, and more. Its lead single “Big Energy” earned Latto a Grammy nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
