Taylor Swift‘s triumph at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March, where she clinched the Song of the Year award for “Anti-Hero” from her album “Midnights,” proved to be a memorable moment. When she took the stage to accept her trophy and deliver her acceptance speech, PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, fellow artists, joined her to present the award.
PinkPantheress and Spice, fresh off the success of their hit single “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2,” had the opportunity to share an embrace with the pop icon on stage. Now, just over a month after the award show, it seems that Spice and Swift may be gearing up for an even more significant collaboration.
In an interview on April 27, Shawn Barron, a former music executive for Atlantic and Capitol Records who now serves as the president of EZMNY Records (founded by R&B singer Ty Dolla $ign), revealed some exciting rumors. Barron claimed that an Ice Spice and Taylor Swift joint single could potentially be in the works, hinting at a highly anticipated collaboration.
Barron acknowledged Ice Spice’s rapid rise to fame, stating, “She has an accumulation of moments in a short amount of time, and we’re seeing the response.” He went on to disclose, “I heard that she’s on Taylor Swift’s next single or something like that.”
Spice’s popularity has soared since the release of her breakout hit “Munch” in August 2022. She has achieved three songs on the Billboard Hot 100, with “In Ha Mood” reaching No. 58, “Boys a Liar Pt. 2” and “Princess Diana” both making it into the top five at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Consequently, seeing her name alongside other pop stars at the top of the charts has become increasingly familiar to Spice.
While Swift hasn’t collaborated extensively with rappers throughout her career, notable successes include “Bad Blood (Remix)” featuring Kendrick Lamar (2015) and “End Game” featuring Ed Sheeran and Future (2017), with the former claiming the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 and the latter peaking at No. 18. Neither Spice nor Swift has officially confirmed the joint single yet. However, if Barron’s claims prove accurate, this collaboration has the potential to become one of the most celebrated releases in the music industry for 2023.
