The Weeknd Hints at His Return to the Studio

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has ignited speculation among fans about the imminent release of new music. On Tuesday (Feb. 13), the acclaimed artist shared a series of photos on his Instagram Stories, providing a glimpse into what appears to be a music studio. One particularly intriguing snapshot captures Tesfaye standing behind a microphone. To catch a glimpse of these images before they vanish, interested fans can head to his Instagram.

This teaser follows Tesfaye’s post a month ago, where he showcased the album covers of his 2020 release, “After Hours,” and his latest work, “Dawn FM,” released in 2022. Accompanying these visuals was a third slide, featuring a black background, a prominent white question mark, and a parental advisory warning label. In the caption, he simply wrote “3,” signaling the impending arrival of the third installment in his album trilogy.

In a revealing interview with W Magazine in May 2023, Tesfaye hinted that his next studio album would mark the conclusion of The Weeknd chapter. Expressing his desire to evolve creatively, he stated, “It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn. The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.”
