The Grammy-winning artist, who was shut out in last year’s BET Awards ceremony, took to Twitter to share his disappointment with another snub. In a now-deleted tweet, Lil Nas X wrote, “Thank you, BET Awards. An outstanding zero nominations again. Black excellence!“
The “Old Time Road” rapper has only secured one nomination from the BET Awards. In 2020 he was nominated for Best New Artist and lost to Roddy Ricch. by the latest snub taking into consideration the success of his 2021’s “Montero.” The album went platinum in the US.
“I just feel like Black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world, and even when we make it to the top, mfs try to pretend we are invisible,” the rapper explained.
The 2022 BET Awards is kicking off on June 26 from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Doja Cat leads the field with six nominations, followed by Drake and Ari Lennox with four nominations each.
