On Wednesday, the company’s head Adam Mosseri announced that after 5+ years Instagram is bringing back the chronological feed version. This means that when scrolling through the app the users will see the posts they care about. The current algorithm sorts posts based on the user’s preferences.
Mosseri said that the company has already developed the version, which is set to be launched early next year, “We believe in more transparency and accountability and we believe in more control.” The app will also add a “Favorites” option to allow users to choose exact people whose posts they want to see higher up.
We want people to have meaningful control over their experience. We’ve been experimenting with Favorites, a way for you to decide whose posts you want to see higher up, and we’re working on another option to see posts from people you follow in chronological order.
